Servicing a 1957 General Electric model 14s208 b&w, vacuum tube television. P5/5 -Final, NO SOUND!
NO SOUND WARNING - but I did caption it, so break out your favorite playlist!
Filmed all of this to discover MY CAMERA STOPPED RECORDING SOUND!
I tried captioning it best possible, but I figure something is better than nothing.
long story short, I shined up the protective lens in front of the CRT, installed the good CRT from the donor, finished the recap, some resistors, a diode set and did some setups
In the end it looks good. probably as good as one of these budget oriented ge sets get.
so next video will be with a new camera....I don't like it as much as this one, but it also records sound and has a bigger lens, so there's that.

    When it comes to car stereos like my factory 56002467(1991) Jeep Cherokee AM/FM Cassette Player, what is the cause of either the left or right channel going out and on a 56009004(1992) the volume knob is maxed out but needs just a little bit more volume? I`ve got cassette players also on some 56003021&3019(88-90) that won`t draw the tape in and seat it down into position but you can hear the motor running. You have to push the tape in and then you have to pull the tape out with needle nose pliers. On one player you have a high squeal thru the speakers but no AM/FM reception.

    Dern I have been scratching my head for a few weeks trying to figure out how to safely mount those square replacement motor caps in my decks. I was thinking of hot glue and electrical tape,but terminal strip seems so much better! I have all Sonys: three TC-580 decks and a TC-458 and have replaced most of the motor caps, done a ton of cleaning and lubing, replaced belts and brake pads and some minor mechanical adjustments. I do have a good number of strips hanging around and will give your method a shot. There is not as much room in the Sonys but probably enough.

    This series of videos really helped out alot! My 940 is now working almost flawlessly. The only thing I am still having trouble with, is when the turntable goes into cycle, the tone arm drifts slightly inward toward the turntable. Same goes for when it returns to rest. The tonearm drifts slightly and sets down, and for whatever reason the turntable then begins to cycle, but turning the platter backward gets it out of cycle. Have you ever seen this problem, and if so do you know how to fix it?

      @@gamingtube7831 check clearance when the arm is cued down and it's not cycling. There should be about 1mm space between the plate and cue rod, adjusted with the thumbscrew up top. Too tight and it might cause this, also any cue fluid that got on to the lift bar above the cue piston that comes up

    • @gamingtube7831
      @gamingtube7831 16 годин тому

      @@JordanPier I checked my clearance, and it seemed ok. Not sure if this could have anything to do with it, but I wanted to mention that whenever the arm is in auto return, the cam seems to spin just a few teeth to far, causing the tone arm to lift up like it is going to cycle and remain in the air when the platter stops spinning.

    Greetings, Jordan, and thank you for sheting this video. I have K322, which when zi press play, head and pinch roller just stay at the bottom and not move up. Before I dive into it, is it a mechanical issue or electronic? If I move the head up with a screwdriver, it plays, but as soon as I take it out, the head goes back to its place at the bottom. Appreciate your guidance and info on this.

      Not familiar with your deck. There is typically a solenoid to help start the function cam rotating which then lifts the heads and rollers. This could be stuck, the solenoid stuck, or the electronics feeding the solenoid faulty.

    My CS-505-2 randomly fails to pick up and stop at the end of the record. I suspect my problem is dried lubricant. I'm inclined to simply remove the grease. I question whether those lightly loaded bronze parts even need grease.

    • @JordanPier
      @JordanPier 10 днів тому

      The end of play trip is usually two pieces that slide on top of each other, with grease as a coupler between the two. Also the pivot bearing should be free moving. This assumes the unit cues down and plays, just doesn't pick up. Take a look underneat and you'll see how it works.

    • @JordanPier
      @JordanPier 24 дні тому

      You have to make them. There are ways to do this. Most importantly is the amp inside this is grounded through the cable at the top of the amp driver cards. If you modify it for pre-out/main-in Jacks the amp must always be grounded or it will oscillate out of existence.
